School Leader

Ellen was born in New York City, and has lived in New York, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Delaware, all before turning 30!  She has lived in Florida, and worked at PHMA since 1993.

Ellen began teaching in 1988 as a traditional Preschool teacher, and then took the AMS Infant/Toddler, (Birth to age 3), Montessori training, and was the Pre Primary teacher in Hockessin, Delaware. While in Delaware, Ellen took the Montessori training for Primary, (ages 3-6), and worked at that level as well, in Wilmington, Delaware.  She moved to Florida, and started as our Pre Primary teacher for many years, and then as a Primary teacher for several years.   In 2012, she became an Administrative Assistant in the office at PHMA.  She has recently been promoted to School Leader.

Ellen attended the University of Oklahoma, and Emporia State University.

Ellen has a Master’s degree in Psychology, she has her Director’s credential for the State of Florida and her AMS certification.

Ellen loves working at PHMA and firmly believes in the Montessori philosophy. She believes that a Montessori education is the best way for children to become their utmost well rounded, uniquely talented, successful selves, while instilling a life time love for learning and growing in all areas that one wishes to pursue.

Ellen enjoys reading, and learning new information in all areas of life. She loves to experience new adventures, whether it be boating, fishing, taking a walk on the beach, perusing art galleries, museums, and antique shops, attending operas, ballets, plays, and  outdoor festivals, or just spending time with friends watching a good movie, or spending time over lunch or dinner.

She would love to go to Greece, and also tour Europe.  Really, any travel destination abroad in the future would be wonderful.
