The Montessori Experience
Experience and learn about the Montessori Method during Palm Harbor Montessori Academy’s 4-week Parent/Toddler class series. Integrated, joyous learning describe the objectives of Dr. Maria Montessori’s unique education method created in 1907. A Montessori education develops students who are independent, confident, self-sufficient, globally aware, environmentally conscious and respectful of oneself and others. The Montessori curriculum “follows the child” and allows students freedom of choice in a carefully prepared learning environment which creates students who are – curious, joyful, and intrinsically motivated to learn beginning at 12 months of age.
Classes include:
- Experiencing components of a typical Montessori “work cycle” where teachers serve as guides and students are encouraged to select classroom materials that interest them
- Participating in Toddler age Montessori “lesson” demonstrations
- Exploring the school’s carefully prepared indoor & outdoor environments
- Enjoying snack together and learning how toddlers work towards independence by preparing and eating food
- Circle time with conversation, singing, playing instruments, storytelling and more
- Actively discussing the philosophies and benefits of a Montessori education specifically for Toddler-age students
