Floater/Pool
I am a proud flower of the South, born and raised in North Carolina. I am a lifelong athlete and have spent the last 20 years as both a competitive
elite athlete and coach. And while I love weightlifting, I spent the better
part of my twenties with my first love after college at FGCU, kickboxing.
After my last fight in 2007, in which I titled, I moved onto competitive
weightlifting and elite throwing in the Scottish Highland Games, eventually finding my way to competitive Crossfit and gym ownership in Idaho. Last fall my husband, who is a native Floridian, and I decided to sell the gym and move to the sunshine state. So here I am. Even though my interaction with kids has usually been in a coaching role, coaches are still teachers. We teach the importance of character, the importance of hard work, teamwork, and what it means to be part of a team. As a coach, I have seen amazing things happen in young people. I’ve seen shoulders square up, confidence and courage built-in kids who were struggling to belong. So I say all that to say this, I instantly had a great feeling about PHMA and I’m looking forward to being part of the team.
